    This is a direct hire position.

    Candidates must reside in Dallas- Fort Worth, Austin or Houston Texas Metropolitan Areas at the time of applying.

    About This Position

    YUPRO Placement, the leading skills-first staffing firm, is seeking a talented and motivated Controller to join our growth-oriented and fully virtual team. In this role, you will lead all day-to-day accounting operations, and supervise the accounting team including functional responsibility over accounting, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting, and audit. The Controller is responsible for leading the organization in compliance to federal, state and local taxes and governance, and ensuring GAAP principles are followed.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Uphold YPP values daily through actions and behaviors that reflect responsibility, empathy, persistence, objectivity, and well-being.
    • Maintain the integrity of all financial statements, reconciliations, reporting, and accounting processes in accordance with GAAP and staffing industry best practices, ensuring accuracy across ledgers, subsidiary accounts, and financial records.
    • Produce and manage weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, scorecards, revenue/gross profit reporting, cash balance reporting, and Board of Director reporting.
    • Develop and enhance operational and financial reporting infrastructure, budgets, forecasts, and analytics that support data-driven business decisions, organizational growth, and monitoring of financial and social performance metrics.
    • Oversee all accounting operations including budgeting, general accounting, payroll, invoicing, deferred revenue schedules, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, cash applications, customer credit reviews, and vendor payment processing.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax requirements including payroll taxes, state registrations, unemployment, workers’ compensation, WOTC reporting, annual filings, 1099 reporting, and related audit and compliance activities.
    • Lead, mentor, hire, and develop the accounting team by fostering a high-performance environment focused on accountability, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and professional growth aligned with YPP values.
    • Partner with Year Up United, auditors, tax and accounting vendors, banking partners, HR, operations, and client delivery teams to support audits, reporting requests, contractor payroll, client audits, wire transfers, and strategic financial initiatives.
    • Support incentive compensation calculations, sales commission reporting, 401(k) audits and contributions, unemployment cost management, and other cross-functional financial and HR-related initiatives as needed.
    • Maintain strong accounting controls, protect confidential organizational information, and support executives and department leaders with special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • 5 years’ experience as a key financial leader with experience in a services industry with preference given to experience in the staffing and placement industry.
    • Experience in a high volume of weekly transactions, with a customer-centric
    • 3+ years as an accounting leader, overseeing direct reports to include hiring, managing, leading, coaching performance, onboarding, and off-boarding staff.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; designing pivot tables; building budget files that include year- over-year analysis.
    • Advanced proficiency in Quick Books Online (QBO), ability to navigate QBO with extensive chart of accounts; design and generate QBO reporting.
    • Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
    • Experience with various payroll systems for payroll tax management, with preference for
    • Experience with multi-state operations and multi-state annual taxes, state unemployment, and state registration compliance.
    • Preference given to experience in a small to mid-size organization, or start-up
    • Experience in completing an annual financial audit with an outsourced audit or tax
    • Experience working in a start-up culture or small business where the workplace allows for the evolving structure of a team, change, and creativity are a constant and where collaboration between departments is a necessary element to success.

    Physical & Location Requirements:

    • Must live in hiring market for the company for consideration.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.
    • Role is 100% virtual, remote ‘work from home’ so candidate must meet internet streaming bandwidth requirements.
    • Must be available to be ‘on camera’ and available 80%+ of working hours without external noise or distractions.

    Pay Range: $110,000-130,000 annually

    Other Benefits:

    • Salaried position paid on 15th and 30th each month with the opportunity to earn additional compensation through company incentive plan based on company performance.
    • Position eligible for the following benefits on the first of the month after 30 days of employment: medical, dental, vision, STD, voluntary life insurance, Smartphone & Internet stipend, 401k, and EAP.
    • COMPANY recognizes 15 paid company holidays and offers up to 200 hours paid vacation plus 40 hours of sick time annually.
